Well if your goal is to see Whooping Cranes then the best time is from late November through March. They generally start arriving as early as mid October and move north in April but for peak viewing concentrate on either side of the start of the year. Keep in mind that our coastal winters are usually mild so it takes a bit of cold to knock down some of the grasses and reeds in the areas with birds for better viewing. There will be other migratory birds also at that time of year, geese, ducks, other waterfowl as well.
