Pipe bomb found at Lexington’s Woodland Park, taken to fire station
A pipe bomb was found at Woodland Park Sunday by someone who took it to a nearby fire station, prompting an evacuation. The person who found the bomb took it to Fire Station #5 on Woodland Avenue at about 10:40 a.m., said Battalion Chief Derek Roberts of the Lexington Fire Department.

Officials with the Lexington Fire Department say a person brought a pipe bomb into Fire Station 5 on Woodland Avenue around 10:40 a.m. The person claimed to have found the bomb at Woodland Park. Fire crews evacuated and called police, and LPD’s bomb squad dismantled the bomb.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington Police are investigating an incident after a pipe bomb was found at a park Sunday morning. According to the fire department, a person brought a pipe bomb around 10:40 a.m. into the fire station on Woodland Avenue. That person claimed they found the bomb at Woodland Park.
“The pipe bomb had been placed near the building the night before, but Secret Service personnel did not identify it during their security sweep on the morning of Jan. 6,” the report stated.
