New Delhi: In her first remarks after taking oath, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi hit out at the BJP on Saturday for hatching a "conspiracy" against her predecessor Arvind Kejriwal and urged the people of the capital to ensure that the AAP national convenor returns to the top post again after the Assembly polls due early next year.

AAP leader Atishi officially took charge as the eighth Chief Minister of Delhi today, following the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal.

Indian opposition leader Arvind Kejriwal picked Delhi minister Atishi to replace him as chief minister of the capital territory on Tuesday, allowing him to focus on winning a fresh mandate in elections due next year after getting bail in a graft case.

Atishi took oath as Chief Minister of Delhi today along with five other ministers who will be a part of her Cabinet. She is the youngest leader to hold the top post in Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Monday reached Delhi Secretariat and took charge as the Chief Minister, two days after being administered the oath of office and secrecy. She has replaced Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal as Delhi’s CM.

Along with her, five other ministers of AAP were sworn in and will be part of Delhi’s cabinet. These include Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Imran Hussain and Mukesh Ahlawat

Delhi's new chief minister Atishi, who took office on Saturday, is likely to assume charge on Monday. She retains her previous 13 portfolios from the Kejriwal government. The Delhi Assembly session will occur on September 26 and 27.
