A Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Chakradhari Saran Singh appreciating the steps taken by the state government so far in the case, however, came down heavily on the administration for not installing CCTV camera surveillance facilities in all 650 police stations of the state.

Bhubaneswar: An army officer and his fiancee, who were allegedly assaulted at a police station here, on Monday met Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, a day after the state government ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident.

The incident reportedly took place on September 15 when the Army Major and the woman went to the Bharatpur police station to complain against some miscreants, who had harassed them while returning from a hotel late at night.

Buckling to mounting pressure amid nationwide outrage, the Odisha Government has ordered a judicial probe into the alleged custodial abuse of a serving Army officer and his fiancée in a Bhubaneswar police station on 15 September.
