The Federal Communications Commission on Thursday finalized a $6 million fine for a political consultant over fake robocalls that mimicked President Joe Biden's voice, urging New Hampshire voters not to vote in that state's Democratic primary.

The FCC first proposed the fine in May. In February, Kramer admitted to creating the robocall operation. A former consultant for Minnesota congressman and presidential candidate Dean Phillips, Kramer said the calls were created as a way to spell out the dangers of AI content in political campaigns.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has officially issued its full recommended fine against political consultant Steve Kramer for a series of illegal robocalls using deepfake AI technology and caller ID spoofing during the New Hampshire primaries.

Steve Kramer, the New Orleans-based political consultant who has admitted his involvement in the January hoax, must pay the fine for violating the federal Truth in Caller ID Act.

The fine follows a months-long investigation led by the FCC Enforcement Bureau, the Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force, and the New Hampshire Department of Justice.
