Slayer performed their first live show in five years over the weekend, returning in top form at Chicago's Riot Fest. The heavy metal band's last concert was at the Forum in Los Angeles on Nov. 30, 2019 as part of their farewell tour.

Together onstage for the first time in almost five full years, Tom Araya, Kerry King, Gary Holt and Paul Bostaph leaned heavily on two of Slayer's most classic albums. Half of the set was comprised of material off Reign in Blood and Seasons in the Abyss, with "Reborn" off the former record being played live for the first time since 2014.

Thrash metal legends Slayer did not remain broken up for long. In 2019, the band finished up their farewell tour. Earlier this year, guitarist Kerry King claimed that he hadn’t spoken to his old bandmate Tom Araya since the final show.
