U.S. oil producers were scrambling on Monday to evacuate staff from Gulf of Mexico oil production platforms as the second major hurricane in two weeks was predicted to tear through offshore oil producing fields.

The storm system — now called Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine — is most likely to make landfall along the Florida Panhandle.

Fort Myers-Naples area will be on the east side of the potential hurricane, bringing higher chances of tornadoes, waterspouts and turbulent weather
