As Tropical Storm Helene threatens to hit Florida as a major hurricane, here's a look at conditions in the Naples area and around the state.

Florida's capital city of Tallahassee is preparing for Helene, which is expected to make landfall tomorrow as a major Category 3 hurricane. People are stocking up on groceries and preparing sandbags.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As of Tuesday at 11 a.m., the National Hurricane Center announced that Tropical Storm Helene had formed over the northwestern Caribbean. Hurricane and storm surge watches remain in effect for portions of the Florida Gulf Coast. Helene currently has 45 mph maximum sustained winds and is moving northwest at 12 mph.

It’s looking more likely that the Gulf of Mexico will have a hurricane to deal with soon, and the latest forecast suggests it will head for Florida. And it could be major hurricane when it gets there.
