Some of the similarities in the cases brought against Sean “Diddy” Combs this week and Robert Sylvester Kelly several years ago are evident at a glance: Both are world famous, powerful and influential musicians who were accused of sex crimes by federal prosecutors in New York City.

Last week, on the day he was sued for at least the ninth time in less than a year, Sean Combs was determined to get a message through to one of his protégées, prosecutors in his federal criminal case said.

Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs’ was arrested in Manhattan on Monday evening after being indicted by a grand jury for racketeering and sex trafficking, months after the music mogul was hit with a series of civil sexual assault lawsuits—all of which he has denied.
